Career Successes

John has recovered numerous multi-million recoveries on behalf of policyholders and their insurers, including several judgments in excess of $1 million.
John was litigation and appellate counsel in American Service Ins. Co. v. COSCO, 402 Ill.App.3d, 513 (1st Dist. 2010) and American Service v. COSCO, 2014 Ill.App. (1st) 121895 in which the appellate court twice affirmed judgments totaling in excess of $2 million.
John was lead trial and appellate counsel in Extended Stay, Inc. v. American Automobile, 375 SW2d 834 (Mo.App. 2012) which involved claims in excess of $20 million and in which the Missouri Appellate Court affirmed a judgment in favor of John’s insurance broker client on all claims.
John was lead appellate counsel in Konami (America) Inc. v. Hartford Ins. Co. of Illinois, 326 Ill.App.3d 874, 761 N.E.2d 1277 (2nd Dist. 2002), which involved an issue of "first impression" in Illinois, where no other Illinois Appellate Court had ruled regarding patent coverage.
In addition to his many trial successes, John lectures on insurance coverage issues, including Design Professionals' Liability Insurance, Insurance Coverage for Mold Claims, and Estoppel and Late Notice. He has created and presented several seminars to insurance companies and their policyholders with respect to claims handling practices, risk management and risk transfer devices. He is also a frequent lecturer to students and new lawyers on insurance issues and trial advocacy and a published author on a wide range of insurance coverage topics.
